Seamless travel experience with a smartwatch — A UI/UX Case Study Smartwatch travel AppConcept Development Spark Initiated As my frequency of travel between India & Malaysia increased, I was able to compare the process involved in both these countries. I could find a very seamless experience in Malaysia where the onboard flight, baggage check-in and boarding pass were all fast and were easy. But these experiences are seldom found in many places around the world. Pondering over my observations, an idea struck in my mind for creating an ideal airport experience for an end-user. I also did not want to create another mobile application that involves booking a ticket and generating a boarding pass alone. I wanted something that will help users to incorporate organize their travel and have a seamless experience until their journey is complete. Before diving in design, I had to understand the design guidelines and rules of smartwatch design. On completion of my research, I then made my use case: How smartwatches can assist users plan and execute their seamless travel experience. PersonaMarket and Target User User — Men and Women Age 30+ Market — Those who use smartwatch and modern smartphone intensively Interest — Technology, Ai feature, automation, Those who typically rely on modern technology and instantly relax do there work. Insights — Everything can be tracked easily by the current application, adopt technology with some degree of intelligence and learn where to make use of smartphone and smartwatch. More emphasis is given on automating the end user’s experience and hence removing the repetitive and frustrating things that come along the way and have a relaxed travel. The Feature list in Smartwatch Journey Map In this journey map, we can explore how the smartwatch helps the user in their travel experience User JourneyWireFrame Before getting into the visual design, the first process was to draw the wireframe to conclude on which features and functionalities need to be included. Visual Design Visual Design is nothing but UI design as such, it focuses on the aesthetics of a product and its related materials by strategically implementing images, colours, fonts, and other elements. Check List User Is Reminded to Verify & Tick off the Checklist so that nothing is missed.
